Fort Lauderdale is attracting growing investment from New York developers who see the city as a less expensive alternative to Miami with strong long-term growth potential.
Nearly half of the 4.6 million square feet of development underway in downtown Fort Lauderdale is now connected to New York-based firms, compared with only 13% between 2021 and 2024. Developers are pursuing luxury condominiums, mixed-use projects, and large residential developments such as the 754-unit Ombelle project. Fort Lauderdale’s lower housing costs, expanding transportation connections, Brightline access, and continued population growth are increasing its appeal. The trend suggests that the city is becoming a major South Florida development center rather than simply an alternative to Miami. For more information, click here.
