Florida’s Month-Long Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday Is Underway

Florida shoppers can purchase qualifying clothing, school supplies, educational products and personal computers without paying sales tax through August 20, 2026.

Florida’s 2026 back-to-school sales tax holiday began on July 20 and continues through August 20. Clothing, footwear, backpacks and certain bags priced at $100 or less per item qualify for the exemption. School supplies priced at $50 or less and learning aids or jigsaw puzzles priced at $30 or less are also tax-free.

Personal computers, tablets and qualifying computer accessories priced at $1,500 or less are exempt when purchased for personal or noncommercial use. Eligible online purchases can also qualify when the order is accepted during the tax-free period and prepared for immediate shipment.

Some products remain taxable, including smartphones, video-game consoles, jewelry, watches, umbrellas, luggage and items exceeding the applicable price limits. The exemption also does not apply to qualifying products purchased at theme parks, entertainment complexes, airports or public lodging establishments. For more information click here.
