Florida Short About 121K Housing Units.

New statewide data found that Florida is short about 121,000 housing units, including roughly 66,000 owner-occupied homes and more than 55,000 rental units. The shortage is concentrated in major metro areas, where supply continues to lag demand.

A new housing supply analysis shows Florida is still facing a significant shortage of both homes for sale and rental units, with the gap most visible in larger metro markets. The estimate of about 121,000 missing units helps explain why affordability remains a challenge in many parts of the state, as demand continues to outpace available supply. In practical terms, the report suggests that Florida’s real estate pressures are not only about pricing, but also about the basic lack of enough housing inventory across different segments of the market.
