These Florida laws go into effect next week. Here’s what to know. Nearly 30 new laws are effective beginning Wednesday.
Starting Oct. 1, 2025, nearly 30 Florida laws kick in. Big ones include ending the state sales tax on commercial leases (“business rent tax”), a long-sought cut for businesses. New public-safety measures add Trooper’s Law (felony to leave dogs tethered outdoors during declared disasters), the Tristin Murphy Act (lets courts divert certain inmates with serious mental illness to treatment after a rapid screening), stiffer DUI/BUI manslaughter penalties, and a ban on non-consensual AI “deepfake” porn (a third-degree felony). Renters must also get flood-risk disclosures similar to home-sale rules.
