Hillsborough County Sales Tax to Decrease to 6.5% on January 1, 2025

Starting January 1, 2025, Hillsborough County’s sales tax will decrease from 7.5% to 6.5%. This change is due to the temporary suspension of two surtaxes: the 0.5% Indigent Care Surtax and the 0.5% Local Government Infrastructure Surtax. Businesses must update their systems to reflect the new rate and avoid collecting the suspended taxes.
