My Safe Florida Home grant program reopens Monday. Here’s how to apply
The My Safe Florida Home Program officially reopened on August 4, 2025, with $280 million in funding aimed at helping Florida homeowners strengthen their properties against hurricane damage. The program offers free wind-mitigation inspections and matching grants of up to $10,000 for recommended upgrades such as reinforced roofs, impact-resistant windows, and storm shutters. Priority is given to homeowners based on income and age, with the first group including seniors over 60 earning less than 80% of the county’s median income. Applications are processed in waves, and only those in lower- and moderate-income brackets are eligible for grants during this cycle, though all homeowners can still access free inspections. To apply, homeowners must visit MySafeFLHome.com, complete a prioritization questionnaire, and schedule an inspection. If eligible upgrades are identified, applicants can then apply for funding assistance—low-income households may qualify for full grants without matching costs, while moderate-income households contribute $1 for every $2 in grant money. Since its revival, the program has already helped over 39,000 homeowners and aims to reduce hurricane risk and potentially lower insurance premiums. For more information click here.
