What to know about Florida tax deadline extension
Florida Tax Deadline Extended to May 1, 2025
Due to the impact of Hurricanes Milton, Helene, and Debby during the 2024 hurricane season, the IRS has extended the federal tax filing and payment deadline for all Florida residents and businesses to May 1, 2025.
This automatic extension applies to:
2024 individual income tax returns and payments
2024 partnership and S corporation returns
First-quarter estimated tax payments
Other tax filings due between October 5, 2024, and May 1, 2025
No action is required to receive this extension. Those affected outside Florida can call the IRS disaster hotline at 866-562-5227. Taxpayers with uninsured losses from the storms may also claim a disaster-related deduction on their 2023 or 2024 returns.
