IRS started collecting tax returns on Monday. What to know in 2025 to file your taxes
The IRS began accepting 2024 tax returns on Monday, January 27, 2025. Florida residents can utilize the IRS’s expanded Direct File program to file their federal taxes for free. This program now includes features like data import tools and support for various credits, such as the Child and Dependent Care Credit and the Premium Tax Credit. The tax filing deadline is Tuesday, April 15, 2025. Additionally, Florida has introduced new tax credits for the 2025 tax year, including the Child Care Tax Credits Program, the Individuals with Unique Abilities Tax Credit Program, and the Residential Graywater System Tax Credit. Notably, Florida does not impose a state income tax, so pensions, retirement distributions, and investment incomes are not taxed at the state level. For more information click here.
