Over 40 Florida counties eligible to file 2023 taxes by May 2025, IRS says

Residents in over 40 counties in Florida are now eligible to file their 2023 taxes by May 1, 2025, according to the IRS. This extension comes as communities recover from Hurricane Helene and prepare for Hurricane Milton. Initially, the filing deadline was set for October 15, but the IRS recognized the need for additional time due to ongoing recovery efforts.Counties included in this extension are Alachua, Bradford, Lee, Pinellas, and Sarasota, among others. Public Affairs Officer Cesar Yabor emphasized that the list may expand as conditions evolve. Individuals who have already filed and owe taxes must still meet the original October 15 deadline for payments. For more information, click here.
