Florida ranks 5th in the 2026 Tax Foundation’s Tax Competitiveness Index, reflecting how the state’s mix of income, sales and property taxes affects residents and businesses
A new update from the Tax Foundation’s 2026 Tax Competitiveness Index, shows that Florida now ranks 5th in the country for overall tax competitiveness, down one spot from last year. The index reviews more than 150 tax variables, including individual income taxes, sales taxes, corporate taxes, property taxes and unemployment insurance taxes, to rate how friendly each state’s tax system is for residents and businesses; Florida remains at the top for no individual income tax, but scores lower in the property tax category, which pulls its overall ranking to fifth place.
